For certain product varieties, Murre's conjecture on Chow groups is investigated. In particular, it is proved that Murre's conjecture (B) is true for two kinds of four-folds. Precisely, if $C$ is a curve and $X$ is an elliptic modular threefold over $k$ (an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0) or an abelian variety of dimension 3, then Murre's conjecture (B) is true for the fourfold $X\times C.$

In this paper we present a conjecture on intermediate subfactors which is a generalization of Wall's conjecture from the theory of finite groups. Motivated by this conjecture, we determine all intermediate subfactors of Goodman-Harpe-Jones subfactors, and as a result we verify that Goodman-Harpe-Jones subfactors verify our conjecture. We study pseudoholomorphic curves in the nearly Kalher $\mathbf{CP}^3$. It is shown that a class of curves called null-torsion are in one to one correspondence with the integrals of a holomorphic contact system on the usual Kahler $\mathbb{CP}^3$ studied by Bryant. In this paper we prove a general theorem on the extensions of local nets which was inspired by recent examples of exotic extensions for Virasoro nets with central charge less than one and earlier work on cosets and conformal inclusions. Generalized translation operators for orthogonal expansions with respect to families of weight functions on the unit ball and on the standard simplex are studied. They are used to define convolution structures and modulus of smoothness for these regions, which are in turn used to characterize the best approximation by polynomials in the weighted $L^p$ spaces. In one variable, this becomes the generalized translation operator for the Gegenbauer polynomial expansions.
